Sometimes you can see water lilies in ponds or aquariums for medaka from spring to summer. I also have medaka as pets, and my aquarium contains water lilies.
In recent years, thanks to selective breeding, many different varieties of both medaka and water lilies have been developed.
Last year, I went to a famous medaka breeding farm in Japan to buy a pair of shimmering, glittery medaka. These were a variety created by that breeder, called “Cactus.” Those medaka laid many eggs in my tank. And now, the medaka you can see there have hatched from those eggs.
Today, I spent a truly blissful moment gazing at this water lilies and watching the medaka swimming in the water.
